We are very excited about Direct Teach Time. This online software automates the discrete trial procedure used when teaching children with special learning needs, specifically ASD. This procedure, which appears very simplistic to somone watching from the outside, is very dependent on a strict set of decisions that must be made by the instructor while prompting the student at a steady and rapid pace. Previously, this has led to the teacher’s inability to correctly gather the required data and a temptation to run the procedure incorrectly.
By automating the decision-making of the teacher, as well as the data collection behind the scenes, Direct Teach Time allows the teacher to focus more on running the procedure correctly and interacting with the child, rather than trying to mange these complicated tasks.
In real classroom settings, Direct Teach Time has proven itself to be a tremendous asset to teachers. And, because it’s web-based with a simple interface, teachers have had great success using it on SMART board, iPads, as well as its print function to print cards for running trials in a traditional manner.
